Mares:
Creevagh Diamond Pride is the perfect stallion to use on a thoroughbred mare if you would like a foal that is well natured, saleable and talented. If you have a TB mare you may be tempted to spend several thousand pounds on a racing sire, only to find that the foal only sells for a few hundred pounds. In 2010 CDP’s stud fee was £350, and if you look at his fabulous stock he is certainly better value for money!!!
On a TB or lightweight mare of around 16hh you are likely to get a foal to make 16-17hh of an ‘eventing’ stamp. CDP adds substance without making them too chunky – just like Legacy who still retains his dam’s ‘blood’. These horses inherit his lovely active hock action with just a bit more length added from the TB, an ideal combination to cross any country.

On a MW mare you are likely to get a ‘hunter’ stamp, with great presence and slightly more bone – more like Ambition or Fashionista. CDP has given all of these youngsters good looks and loads of ability – we can’t wait to see them out competing and they will both look at home in any showring.
We haven’t used CDP on a heavyweight mare yet, as we don’t have one, but feel that he would produce an upstanding heavyweight hunter. He could be used to inject a bit of ‘oomph’ without compromising on bone and all of those heavyweight qualities you bought the mare for in the first place!
